Statement “Today, Republican leaders in the U.S. Senate continued their grossly irresponsible, shameful assault on our economy and the health care families rely on by approving a Motion to Proceed to a vote on a mysterious health care bill. Republican U.S. Senators have not read the bill, experts have not reviewed the bill, the Congressional Budget Office has not scored the bill’s impact and, most importantly, the American people know nothing about the bill. This partisan, secretive process has been shocking in its disregard for families and our economy -- and it must stop now.

Statement “Treating immigrants fairly and with respect is not only a moral imperative, but also a way to make our nation strong and prosperous. U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) took a step in the right direction yesterday when they introduced the bipartisan DREAM Act of 2017 – urgently needed legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for the nearly 800,000 undocumented people who have grown up here and know no other home. These young people contribute tremendously to the strength and vitality of their communities.

News release With our nation’s health care hanging in the balance, on Thursday morning MomsRising members will deliver superhero capes to U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski for standing up for women, children and families by opposing the dangerous proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without replacing it. The capes are part of a broader delivery of powerful personal stories from parents across the country that demonstrate how repealing or weakening the ACA and gutting Medicaid would harm maternal and child health.

Statement “With breaking news that there aren’t enough votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act in the U.S. Senate at this time, the moms, dads, parents and caregivers of America celebrate. Now, instead of working to build support for yet another measure that would take health insurance away from tens of millions of people, U.S. Senate Republican leaders should start over and work in a bipartisan way to strengthen the Affordable Care Act, stabilize the insurance marketplaces and improve our health care system so that it works for everyone.

Statement “The moms of America urge every U.S. Senator to vote ‘no’ on gutting our nation’s health care. The revised U.S. Senate Republican health care bill is just as much of a disgrace as its failed first draft. If passed, the Better Care Reconciliation Act would be devastating for moms, children, families, the most vulnerable members of our society, and our economy. Millions of families will suffer if it becomes law.
